Christmas in Africa AKA The BEST Christmas EVER

Christmas Eve...The little sneak!
Music

The Nativity Story
Some of us are born actors...
and some of us are better readers!
Could we get a little help with Baby Jesus please.

Christmas Day was divided up into 3 parts.
Part One: We opened up presents and enjoyed being spoiled by my parents. We were quite amazed that somehow Santa found us half way around the world!
(Don't you love their traditional thatched roof!)
Now he is a true White African!

Part Two: We met 40 of the missionaries at an orphanage and had a blast!
Callin was a tad bit jealous at first. Pretty soon he was heaven and we had to keep yelling, "Has anyone seen the white kid?"
Lindy carried this little girl around the entire time. Every time I tried to hold her she cried.
Feeding the babies their breakfast could definitely be my favorite reoccurring treasure Africa gives me. They are as precious and darling as ever! Oh how I wish I could take home several and add them to our little family! I will keep waiting for the day!
The missionaries set up rotations of activities for the kids to do. This is the sponge toss. This sweet little girl (in the blue) only had half an arm but was still the best shot found!

Musical chairs and making music station. Playing the drums and singing along with the guitar was definitely the favorite station.
After all the games were over, my parents AP gave a little lesson about how God loves each of them. They each got little prise bag with their own smaller picture of the Savior to put by their bed.
Part 3: We met at the church in the afternoon to play board games, watch "It's a Wonderful Life," eat a yummy lasagna dinner, have a white elephant gift exchange, concluded by a devotional and testimony meeting.

Doug and I sang a song and then he got to offer his thoughts and some advice (in Portuguese) to the missionaries.
It truly will be hard to beat this Christmas. It was so full of joy and happiness.

Wow, what great memories. That is so neat that you guys got to go over there and experience Christmas with the mission/along with Callin!! How fun, we'll need to chat and hear all the details. There's nothing quite like Christmas as a missionary! Glad Doug could contribute to the meeting! Love you guys.

A-mazing. That orphanage made me cry! Callin is getting so big, I can't believe it. Thanks for posting all the pictures - it's so fun to see your adventures, your family, and all the great things you were able to do out there! I bet it was hard to come back to school and work!

Wow, it looks like a wonderful time. How awesome to be able to have that experience with your parents. I can't believe they'll be done in 5 months!

I actually wanted to email you, but I don't see your email on the side of your blog anymore. I've been asking anyone I could think of about advice/opinions on books to read about natural childbirth. Then I realized, "what better person to ask than Annie Packard Lewis?!" So, if you have any book sugestions or great words of encouragement send me an email. My address is lauraprzy at gmail dot com. Thanks, Annie!

Wow. What a great trip for you guys! Your parents look great and I loved seeing all of your pictures. It brought back memories of my own! Do your parents live in Maputo then? Their mission home is awesome. Thanks for sharing all the pictures and glad you made it back home safe!
