Cal's Uncle Ben

Uncle Ben (left) made a valiant effort to win Callin's heart, but Cal still has eyes for his dad (right)! He is getting baby hungry, so if anyone knows any cute single girls- let's set him up! Cal needs some more cousins! He has one more year at BYU and then will have his masters in Accounting. He is smart, funny, sensitive, loves the outdoors, musical, athletic, and is great with children!

The One Minute Diaper Change

We have discovered that Callin will give us about a 1 minute window to change his diaper. Anything longer than that spells trouble! Here is Doug's tee-shirt after a "longer than 1 minute" diaper change. I am just glad it wasn't me!

I didn't marry a handyman!

Doug has never been one to brag about his abilities to fix things--anything for that matter. I thought he learned his lesson after trying to install the new ceiling fan we put in the baby room. After to took the old fan out and tried for 3 days to figure out the wiring, we called a handyman to come and finish the job. Today he tried to battle a car!! Curt and Aimee have donated their old Contour to the currently car-less Lewis family! After only a few days the car died, luckily it was only just around the corner of the street we live on. Doug printed off the Mobil directions for "How to change an alternator" and goes to work. After only 20 minutes I go and check on him. With car parts strewn across the driveway he admits, "I think I've done all that I can do!"

Blessing Day

With so many extended family members in town for Doug's Dad's release, we took advantage of the family support and had Callin's baby blessing.

Callin was very alert and quiet for the blessing. Grandpa Smoot shared where the name Douglas came from. Grandma Lewis made the darling blessing outfit.

Hooray for baby Cal! (He is still in the flailing arm- no control of his body stage!) Some of the highlights of the evening include a wonderful dinner, cousin Sawyer crawling in the middle of the blessing circle, and all the cousins playing in the broken sprinkler.

I love my LEWIS family

Due to a resent complaint of no Lewis family photos on the blog...(the person may remain anonymous), we are dedicating today to the Lewis family!! Callin absolutely adores his Grandma and Grandpa Lewis!

Callin's first visitors were his Uncle CJ, Grandma and Grandpa Lewis, Uncle Ed, and Aunt Jennie.

Callin is looking forward to meeting his handsome Uncle Ben and charming great Grandma Lewis tomorrow. We are already planning a little experiment to see if Callin can discern between Daddy Doug and look alike Daddy, Uncle Ben! (We'll post the results for those who are interested!)

We are looking forward to a fun Lewis family filled weekend!! The upcoming events include "President Lewis" getting released, Cal's blessing on Sunday evening, and Cal's first plane ride next week as we get ready for St. George/Provo trip!

June 16- One Week Old

Here is Cal at his one week old photo shoot! He is now up to about 8 lb. 7 oz. We are having so much fun with him! He is such a happy little guy and only squeaks when he is ready to eat again.

Last night he slept 6 hours before waking up starving. He has finally started waking up for more than a few minutes here and there. He loves to have his face tickled.

Doug spends his time getting all his med school applications ready. We have both enjoyed our more relaxed pace of life.

Drum Roll Please...

Hi! My name is Callin Douglas Lewis! (I am waving at you.) I am so excited to be named after my dad Douglas Smoot Lewis, great-Grandpa L. Douglas Smoot and great, great-Grandpa Douglas P. Smoot.

This is my story: My mom started feeling some funny things around 5 in the morning. My mom went to a baby shower around noon, my dad left to run errands and ran out of gas around 1:00, and my house was getting new carpet and had lots of workers in it. I choose to come on a crazy day. My mom said that real labor started around 2:00. Of course dad was still stranded out by the corn fields, but all my aunts helped my mom until he got home. Finally, around 5:00 my Aunt Aimee kicked out all the carpet workers so my mom could get down to business! My mom was swimming in a big tub for about 2 hours. After an hour of her trying to get me to come out, I decided to join her at 7:05 pm. I am 8 pounds even and am a proud 20.5 inches long. I have lots of dark hair with 4 calics in it, chubby cheeks, and full, rosey red lips.

I was so happy to discover that I was in my home, surrounded my Mom and Dad, Grammie, Aunt Aimee, Aunt Ali, and Aunt Emily. The coolest thing is that my mom was born in that same house! My Grammie (and my Aunt Lindy) must love me a whole bunch, because they flew all the way from Mozambique, Africa just to see me!

My two best friends were so excited to see me too. Here are my cousins Jackson (left) and Brody (center). Of course my eyes are closed becuase I haven't really woken up yet.
